Under the 2023 No. 3 Election Expenditure Act, the Election Commission has officially announced the maximum expenditure limits that candidates can incur per voter in each district for the upcoming General Election, scheduled for November 14. The highest expenditure limit is Rs. 115 per voter in the Polonnaruwa District, while the lowest is Rs. 82, applicable to the Vanni District. The gazette notification was signed on November 16 and sent for printing on the same day, according to Election Commission Chairman R.M.A.L. Ratnayake.

The maximum expenditure limit set for the 2024 Presidential Election was Rs. 109 per voter.

The political parties and the leaders of the independent teams must submit their expenditure reports within 21 days after the election.
